The Unseen War – Part 3

April 2, 2023 / Ephesians 6:16

The Shield of Faith needs to be taken up the fiery darts

Taking the Shield of Faith is a not an

Above all (in addition to, NIV) taking (analambano) the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked – Ephesians 6:16 (CWSB)

Taking: analambanō – to take up: receive up, take (in, unto, up) to take up, raise to take up

(a thing in order to carry or use it)

…after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up (analambano) into heaven – Mark 16:19 (OTESD)

And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up – Acts 1:10 (CWSB)

Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

– Matthew 17:20 (NKJV)

For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. – Mark 11:23 (CWSB)

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God

Faith comes by hearing not by

…faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word (rhema) of God (Christos) – Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

Word: rhema – to speak, that which is spoken, a statement, word (CWSB Dictionary)

…the sword (machaira) of the Spirit, which is the word (rhema) of God – Ephesians 6:17 (CWSB)

God’s Word is in my then my

But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: “DO NOT SAY IN YOUR HEART, ‘WHO WILL GO UP INTO HEAVEN?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).” But what does it say? “THE WORD (rhema) IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART” – that is, the word (rhema) of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess (homologeo) with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (sozo); – Romans 10:6-9 (NASB)

Confess: homologeo – to speak the same thing (Vine’s)

…for she was saying to herself, “If I only touch His garment, I will get well (sozo).” But Jesus turning and seeing her said, “Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well (sozo).” At once the woman was made well (sozo)

– Matthew 9:21-22 (NASB95}

“For this commandment which I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it far away. It is not in heaven, that you could say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us and get it for us, and proclaim it to us, so that we may follow it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you could say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us and get it for us and proclaim it to us, so that we may follow it?’ On the contrary, the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may follow it. – Deuteronomy 30:11-14 (NASB 2020)

Faith becomes a shield by hearing speaking God’s Word

Ask: What does about my and begin ?

Let us hold fast the confession (homologia) of our hope (Faith, KJV) without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; – Hebrews 10:23 (NASB95)

…consider Jesus…High Priest of our confession (homologia) – Hebrews 3:1-2 (NASB95)
