The Magog Invasion

After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely. – Ezekiel 38:8 (NKJV)

Chapters 38-39: Last Days after Israel is back in their land












(vv. 1-3)

“Son of man, set your face against Gog () of the land of Magog, () the

prince of Rosh, () Meshech, () and Tubal, () and prophesy against him (NKJV)

Gog’s location in reference to Israel: The remotest parts of the North (Ezekiel 38:6 & 14-15, 39:1-2) (NASU)

(v.4)












Horses: soos – from an unused root meaning to skip, a horse (as leaping); also, a swallow (from its rapid flight): crane, horse

(Jeremiah 8:7 translated: turtledove & crane)

Horsemen: parash – a steed (as stretched out to a vehicle, not single nor for mounting, also (by implication) a driver (in a chariot), i.e., (collectively) cavalry, horseman












“Persia, () Ethiopia, and Libya are with them, all of them with shield and helmet, “Gomer and all its troops; the house of Togarmah () from the far north and all its troops; many people are with you. (vv.5-6) (NKJV)

(v.13) The Protesting Nervous Non-Participants

Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee…

– Ezekiel 38:13 (KJV)

Sheba and Dedan are in modern day

Tarshish: Probably (Ezekiel 27:12)

Etymology: Britannia, poetic name for Great Britain, from Latin: a silver-white alloy largely of tin

(v.22) Appears to be

(Chapter 39)

…from the remotest parts of the north (39:2 NASU)

(v.3)

“Then I will knock the bow () out of your left hand, and cause the arrows () to fall out of your right hand. – Ezekiel 39:3 (NKJV)

Arrows: chets – prop. a piercer, i.e., an arrow; by implication a wound; fig. (of God) thunder-bolt; the shaft of a spear; archer, arrow, dart, shaft, staff, wound

(vv.5-6) Coastlands: ‘iy, (ee): a habitable spot (as desirable); dry land, a coast, an island, country, isle, island

(vv.7-16)

1. Weapons will supply enough for (v.9)

2. Wait (v.14)

3. Burying for (v.12)

4. Use (v.14)
