Therefore be imitators (mimites) of God, as beloved children; and walk in love (agape), just as Christ also loved (agapaoo) you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

– Ephesians 5:1-2 (NASB)

God speaks of the same way He speaks of

(God) “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”  – Matthew 3:17 (NASB)

“Walk in love (agape)” and

What is not Fitting for Believers:

Sexual sin is for (God’s People) (v.3)

But sexual immorality (porneia) and all impurity (akatharsia) or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints, – Ephesians 5:3 (ESV)

Impurity: akatharsia – Things (Swindoll)

Catharsis: a purification…that brings about spiritual renewal or release from tension (MWD)

God isn’t trying to keep sexual fulfillment , He’s trying to keep it because we are His (v.3)

For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality (porneia)…and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you…Consequently, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you. – 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 (NASB)

Sins of the Tongue: (v.4)

Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk (morologia) or coarse joking (eutrapelia), which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving (eucharistia). – Ephesians 5:4 (NIV)
