The Light of the World

April 17, 2022 / Pastor Dan Plourde / John 9:1-12

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23 (NASB)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. – John 10:10 (NKJV)

I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.

– John 12:46 (NASU)

(vv.3-4)

“Neither this man nor his parents sinned, ‘said Jesus. ‘But so that the work of God might be displayed in his life we must do the work of him who sent me while it is still day.” Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (vv.3-4 NIV Life Application Commentary)

Jesus sees is an open door for (vv.3-4)

As The Light of the World (v.5) Jesus uses this man’s condition to give us a Picture of Salvation:

He’s

He can’t his condition

He’s not The Lord, The Lord is him

He initiates , The Lord initiates

Being blind he doesn’t know

Notice: God uses to bring Light (vv.6-7)

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God – Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV)

As a Picture of Salvation we notice:

His change will be to (vv.8-9)

He’s ready and willing to about what Jesus (v.11)

He doesn’t have but knows what Jesus (v.12)

(Jesus) I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. – Revelation 3:20-21 (NASU)
