May 5, 2024 / Pastor Dan Plourde / Luke 8:1-3

Christianity 101: All Christians believe Jesus is

Everyone else believes: Jesus is

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us  – John 1:1&14 (NASB)

(vv. 1-3)

…the Lord appointed seventy others – Luke 10:1 (NASB95)

(Peter) Therefore it is necessary that of the men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us— 22beginning with the baptism of John until the day that He was taken up from us—one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection – Acts 1:21-22 (NASB) (Acts 1:15 120 people)

They Believed: This message is so that I will do whatever is so that can

Joanna wasn’t it (v.3)

Jesus’ became the for the Church

Do you not know that those who are employed in the temple service get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in the sacrificial offerings?  In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel – 1 Corinthians 9:13-14 (ESV)

Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. “You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you!  “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. – Malachi 3:8-11 (NASB95)

Tithe: to pay or give a tenth part of especially for the support of the church (Merriam-Webster)

Regarding the Tithe: God says it, not it

The Tithe goes to the Storehouse:

“Offerings” are above the Tithe and go to

Tithing:

  1. Reveals what I

Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful (hilaros) giver. – 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NASB95)

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. – Matthew 6:20-21 (NASB)

  1. Reveals what I

…test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. – Malachi 3:10 (NASB95)
