The Resurrection

August 10, 2025 / Pastor Dan Plourde / Luke 24:1-53

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures…  1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (NKJV)

…if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. – 1 Corinthians 15:14 (NASB95)

“Therefore, give orders for the grave to be made secure until the third day, otherwise His disciples may come and steal Him away and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.” Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go, make it as secure as you know how.”  Matthew 27:64-65 (NASB95)

And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men. – Matthew 28:2-4 (NASB95)

Now while they were on their way, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened. And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, and said, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’ “And if this should come to the governor’s ears, we will win him over and keep you out of trouble.” And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews, and is to this day. – Matthew 28:11-15 (NASB95)

(v.27) And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded (diermeneuo) unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. – Luke 24:27 (KJV)
