(vv.5-6) A Chief Characteristic: A mouth that
“While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth uttering great boasts. – Daniel 7:8 (NASB)
(vv.7-8) These Saints are saved
I kept looking, and that horn was waging war with the saints and overpowering them until the Ancient of Days came and judgment was passed in favor of the saints of the Highest One, and the time arrived when the saints took possession of the kingdom. – Daniel 7:21-22 (NASB)
(Jesus) “I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. – Matthew 16:18 (NASB95)
(vv.11-12) Introducing the
And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire – Revelation 19:20 (NASB)

(vv.14-15) Sets Up the Image in the Temple
(Jesus) “Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains; – Matthew 24:15-16 (NASB95)
“Forces from him will arise, desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of desolation. – Daniel 11:31 (NASB)
“And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week (shabua), but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.” – Daniel 9:27 (NASB95)
(vv.16-17) The Mark of the Beast
Beast: theeriou – a little beast, little animal; an animal (Thayer’s)
Mark: charagma – a scratch or etching, from charax – to sharpen to a point (Strong’s)
No one will take the Mark
Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, – Revelation 14:9-10 (NASB)
