John the Baptist is preaching (vv.1-2)

Gospel means

The Gospel (good news) involves (v.3)
Repent: to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life. To change one’s mind (Webster)
John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. – Matthew 3:4-6 (NIV)
Repentance involves
John did not baptize until someone Repented/Confessed
Baptism: baptisma – immersion (Strong’s)
Baptized of forgiveness not forgiveness
And he came into all the country round about Jordan, preaching baptism as a sign of forgiveness of sin for those whose hearts were changed. – Luke 3:3 (BBE)
The Gospel means that Jesus is going to correct all that is (vv.4-6)

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? – Matthew 3:7-8 (NIV)
John believes that repentance (a change in mind) leads to a change in (v.8)
Repentance Means:

A change in how I view (v.11)
Repentance says I’m so I can be a
A change in how I conduct my (vv.12-13)
A change in how I use my and/or (v.14)
Don’t extort (diaseio) money (v.14) (NIV)
Extort: (NIV) diaseiō – to shake violently (Vine’s)
A change in (vv.19-20) (Leviticus 18:16)
…because Herod was afraid of John and protected him. He knew John was a good and holy man. Also, though John’s preaching always bothered him, he enjoyed listening to John. – Mark 6:20 (NCV)
Part of the Gospel is understanding what I’m , (vv.15-17) and that is
…from the wrath to come… (v.7) (NASB)
If I have repented (changed my mind) then it’s time to be (vv. 21-23)
Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection – Romans 6:3-5 (NASB)
