1 Kings 12:1-13 ()

…while King Rehoboam conferred with his advisors (elders [NIV], old men [NHEB]) who had worked for his father Solomon during his administration. He asked them, “What is your advice as to how I should respond to these people?” – 1 Kings 12:6 (ISV)

 A wise man will hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel… – Proverbs 1:5 (NASB95)

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel. – Proverbs 12:15 (NASB95)

Through insolence comes nothing but strife, But wisdom is with those who receive counsel. – Proverbs 13:10 (NASB95)

 Listen to counsel and accept discipline, That you may be wise the rest of your days. – Proverbs 19:20 (NASB95)

Good News Even When I Make a Mistake:

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.  – Romans 8:28 (NASB)

How to Choose the Right Counselors:

Choose counselors who are where I in life

…that you do not become sluggish, but imitate (memetes) those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. – Hebrews 6:12 (NKJV)

Therefore I urge you, be imitators (memetes) of me. – 1 Corinthians 4:16 (NASB)

Be imitators (memetes) of me, as I am of Christ. – 1 Corinthians 11:1 (ESV)

 Choose counselors who have  by telling me

Wounds from a friend are better than many kisses from an enemy. – Proverbs 27:6 (NLT)

Resist the tendency to become

If possible, ask more than  but

Be sensitive to the fact that God may

Three questions to ask the counselor after I explain the situation:

Are any of the options that I am considering outside the bounds of scripture as far as you know?

What do you think the  thing is for me to do?

 What would you do ?
