Peter met Jesus

Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ), and he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter). – John 1:40-42 (NIV)

Peter was (v.38)

…she immediately got up and served (diakoneo) them.

“…the sun was setting” means the Sabbath (v.40)

Peter follows Jesus for a season (vv.42-44)

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” –  Mark 1:35-38 (NIV)

Chapter 5 begins a few months later back in Capernaum, with Peter back running the Fishing Company

God is concerned about our

Peter thought God could only use people

Jesus reveals that it’s that makes us useable

And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not fear (phobeo); from now on you will be catching (zogreo) people. (v.10) (NASB)

 Catch: (zōgreō) – from the same as 2226 and 64;

to take alive (OTESD)

 There is a progression in Him
