Receiving The Gospel of Mega Joy

May 24, 2020 / 1:

Paul always brought the Gospel of

…the angel said… “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news (euaggelizo) of great (megas) joy that will be for all the people. – Luke 2:10

Euaggelizo: to announce good news, especially the gospel

Paul’s Audience:

Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and not a few prominent women.  – Acts 17:4

… you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,  – 1 Thessalonians 1:9 (NIV)

Unlike the idols they used to serve: (v.4)

God declares they are by God

Called times: They are part  of

As God the Jewish people God has now Gentiles as His People too

(to Israel) …The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but because the Lord loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the Lord brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, – Deuteronomy 7:7-8 (NASB)

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  – John 3:16-17 (NASB)

(v.5)
The Gospel of Mega Joy came with _______________________

…for our gospel (euaggelion) did not come to you in word only, but also in power (dunamis) and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction;  – 1 Thessalonians 1:5 (NASB)

Dunamis: force – specially, miraculous power (usually by implication, a miracle itself) (Strong’s)

He could not do any miracles (dunamis) there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith. – Mark 6:5-6 (NIV)

They were so impacted by the Gospel of Mega Joy that they became of Paul (v.6) and (v.7) to other believers

Persevered in (v.6)

Eager to the message (v.8)

Actively the Lord However they could (vv.9&3)

Excited about and (v.10)

What Makes this Gospel so Mega Joy:

For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes;  – 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NASB)

But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises. – Hebrews 8:6 (NASB)

Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; – Psalms 103:2-3 (NASB)

And let them say continually, “The Lord be magnified, Who delights in the prosperity of His servant.” – Psalms 35:27 (NASB)
