I have a Spiritual Gift (v.8)

Apostles: Apostolos – one sent forth (FBD, Vine’s, ISBE, Smith’s)

A true Evangelist brings news not news

Pastors/Shepherds by God’s

(Jesus) Feed (poimaino) my sheep – John 21:16 (KJV)

Calvary Commitment: Not that we lord it over your faith, but are workers with you for your joy; for in your faith you are standing firm – 2 Corinthians 1:24 (NASU)

The goal of “equipping of the saints for the work of service” is

to (v.12)

The result is (v.13)

…until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge (epignosis) of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ (v.13) (NASU)

Spiritual Maturity is evidenced by:

Knowing Him and

Knowledge: epignosis – precise and correct knowledge (Thayer’s)

Having in and (v.14)

As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed (kludonizomai) here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery (kubeia) of people, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; (v.14) (NASB)

He…rebuked the wind and the surging waves (kludon) – Luke 8:24

Trickery: kubeia – from kubos – a “cube”, i.e., die for playing); gambling, i.e., fraud (Strong’s)

Christianity 101: All Christians believe that Jesus is

Everyone else believes that Jesus is

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace – Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us – John 1:1&14 (NKJV)

But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his trickery, your minds will be led astray from sincere and pure devotion to Christ.  For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, this you tolerate very well! – 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 (NASB)

Speaking in (agape) (v.15)

Finding and in Christ’s Body (v.16)
