The Miracle Through Us

June 23, 2024 / Luke 9:11-17

(vv.10-11) The apostles gathered together with Jesus; and they reported to Him all that they had done and taught. 31And He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.” (For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.) 32They went away in the boat to a secluded place by themselves. – Mark 6:30-33 (NASB95)

Much of what they had been taught (v.11)

…when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things – Mark 6:34 (NKJV)

…faith comes from hearing, and hearing, by the word of Christ – Romans 10:17 (NASB)

(v.12a) The Jewish Passover Feast was near. – John 6:4 (NIV)

Therefore Jesus, lifting up His eyes and seeing that a large crowd was coming to Him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these may eat?”  6This He was saying to test him, for He Himself knew what He was intending to do – John 6:5-8 (NASB95)

Miracles begin as (v.12)

Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children. – Matthew 14:21 (NKJV)

Lesson: When we’re down to  

God is up to

Mistake: saying it’s (v.12)

Send: apoluo – to free fully, i.e. (literally) relieve, release, dismiss (reflexively, depart), let die, pardon or (specially) divorce     

Jesus reveals their of faith (v.13)

This miracle will be done

So, Philip explains to God why

Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone to receive a little.” – John 6:7 (NASB95)

 Fortunately, the Disciples realize that Jesus wants to do this so they stop asking it can be done and began discussing it can be done

And they said to Him, “Shall we go and spend two hundred denarii on bread and give them something to eat?” 38And He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go look!” – Mark 6:37-38 (NASB95)

 They think God can only do it (v.13b)

One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, 9″There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these for so many people?” – John 6:8-9 (NASB95)

God says bring the we have

…and He said, “Bring them here to Me.” – Matthew 14:18-19 (NASB)

Lesson: Never limit God can do it

 God’s job is to and

… distributed…as much as they wanted… – John 6:11 (NIV) 

(v.17)

God is concerned about our

Satisfied: chortazo – i.e. (generally) to gorge (supply food in abundance)

 …distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. – John 6:11 (NIV)

God wants to through this miracle

This miracle is accomplished through a and required  (v.16)

This He was saying to test him, for He Himself knew what He was intending to do. – John 6:6 (NASB95)

 Since Jesus knows what He intends to do, what am I, or we on because I/we haven’t participated in the process?

Our God is the God of

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us – Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)

12 baskets because there are

…twelve [small hand] baskets of broken pieces. – Luke 9:17 (AMP)
